California Culture: The Hundreds

I’ve been waiting to post this for a while! This is my favorite clothing brand hands down! Not that I don’t like or wear other brands, but The Hundreds is the shit!

Every single season they release quality garments that put across many messages representing me and where I have come from. It’s California culture! Growing up in California, I have traveled to all four borders of the state. I love the west coast! You can tell that The Hundreds feels the same way!

This past weekend, I took a trip to San Francisco to visit one of their storefronts (they have four total: Los Angeles, Santa Monica, New York, and San Francisco). It’s such a great shop. The design of the shop is a architectural ode to the cave from The Goonies. It’s lined with skull infused black rocks and the floor is black concrete that has been clear coated so that it looks like water. They even have the HUGE skull shaped rock on the back wall of the shop. Their main logo is a bomb character that goes by the name Adam Bomb. The shop is small, so it’s kind of easy to miss, but the TH crew put an Adam Bomb sign peeking out from above the shop’s door (check it in the slide show below). Also, since their symbol is Adam, the front door of the shop is an actual bomb proof door! Such a unique concept! The Hundreds attention to detail is unparalleled. You have to check it out for yourself.

Their clothing is fantastic! Quality shirts, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, hats, denim, eyeware, accessories, and shoes. Their shoes are named after famous Los Angeles athletes and their denim pieces are named after streets in LA (The Hundreds started in LA). Everything they make is infused with California in some way or another. Click on the links that I’ve posted to check out their full line-up.

The co-founders of this brand, Bobby Hundreds and Ben Hundreds, are doing things right! I’ve been wearing The Hundreds for about seven years now and it just gets better with every season that passes. Keep it up TH crew! I’ll be rocking this brand even when I’m an old ass man!

The Brooklyn Circus: Taking Men’s Fashion to the Previous Level

Founder of BKc, Ouigi Theodore, has created something fantastic in the fashion industry! He has gone forward with fashion by looking back at it. This retro-sexual brand has taken influence from classic designing techniques and pushed them full force into the world we live in today.

BKc makes shirts, jackets, cardigans, pants, hats, and accessories. Everything you need in your arsenal to look fresh. These pieces of clothing are made here on the wonderful shores of the United States of America. A true American brand! The Brooklyn Circus has flagship storefronts in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.

One thing that I think this brand does well is the meshing of classic clothing with technology. It’s 2011 folks, and if you’re a small business, you absolutely need to fully utilize the technology at hand! BKc has an online shop and they are also using social media to it’s fullest potential. Keep it up fellas!

Gentlemen, you need to check this brand out. If you’re a lady, make your man’s next gift something from BKc because I know you want him to look fly!

Ladies Handmade Jewelry by AVGVSTA & AVGVSTVS

This one is for all the classy ladies out there! This new company AVGVSTA & AVGVSTVS (pronounced Augusta and Augustus) is ran by two creative minded sisters named Julia and Samantha Vaughn. The Vaughn sisters have traveled to many places over seas, but now their home base is Southern California.

These pieces of wearable art go far beyond gorgeous! If you’re a lady looking to make a statement and a lasting impression, you will be able to do it with any piece from their collection. The AVGVSTA & AVGVSTVS shop just recently launched and at the moment they are offering eight necklaces ranging from $325 to $525.

The inspiration for their jewelry collection comes from their experiences over seas and also Julia’s husbands passion for restoring classic motorcycles (check the video down below). When describing what AVGVSTA & AVGVSTVS is all about they said it best by stating, “With a mixture of past and present, destruction and creation, imagination and the dull reality, Avgvsta & Avgvstvs is a brand to awaken your long lost childhood royalty.”

Don’t sleep!

Heritage Footwear and Apparel

Today I stopped into a great boutique located in Roseville, California called Heritage Footwear and apparel. They carry a great assortment of styles and gear. One of the main reasons that I love this shop is that they switch up the brands all the time. It keeps the place real fresh, almost like a produce department. Every time I walk in the door I know that I’m going to discover a new brand that I have never heard of. In the fashion industry, this is a key to success.

The shop has a great vibe inside. They have great pieces of art (which are also always changing), a lounge area with fantastic reading material, and friendly staff. The owner is a great guy named Gregg. He used to run a local skate shop and decided to go his own way and create Heritage. With his creativity, he has ran a well rounded shop that stays ahead of the rapidly changing fashion industry.

Today through Sunday they are having a great sale which they hold semi-annually. If you buy two items, you get the third for free. If you were to buy a single item it would be 25% off. Another fun event that Heritage holds is “Style your sole.” What they do is order a boat load of plain white TOMS Shoes and bring in a bunch of different artists that design these TOMS custom for you (there are a couple pairs in the slide show). This event is held about three or four times a year. For more info, add Heritage Footwear and Apparel on Facebook.
